Bean is a common name for large plant seeds of several genera of the family Fabaceae (alternately Leguminosae) used for human food or animal feed.
The whole young pods of bean plants, if picked before the pods ripen and dry, can be tender enough to eat whole, whether cooked or raw. Thus the word "green beans" means "green" in the sense of unripe (many are in fact, not green in color), as the beans inside the pods of green beans are too small to comprise a significant part of the cooked fruit.

Vanilla Beans
Vanilla is a flavoring derived from orchids of the genus Vanilla native to Mexico. Etymologically, vanilla derives from the Spanish word "vainilla", little pod. Vanilla is the second most expensive spice after saffron, due to the extensive labor required to grow the seed pods used in its manufacture. Despite the expense, it is highly valued for its flavor.
India is fast emerging as a major vanilla grower. Vanilla cultivation is widely adopted in the southern states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Bourbon quality vanilla beans with sweet, aromatic and pleasant flavor are grown here. Indian vanilla beans are cured for a processing period of 5 to 6 months. They are considered to be at par with the Madagascar beans. Vanilla beans cultivated in some parts of India are of the world's best variety.
Cocoa Beans
Cocoa is the dried and fully fermented fatty seed of the cacao tree, from which chocolate is made. (The word "cocoa" is simply a derivative of "cacao".) "Cocoa" can often also refer to the drink commonly known as hot chocolate; to cocoa powder, the dry powder made by grinding cocoa seeds and removing the cocoa butter from the dark, bitter cocoa solids; or to a mixture of cocoa powder and cocoa butter.
The cocoa beans, of Indian origin are of high quality and flavor and are at par with that of any West African counters part like those from Ghana. India grows nearly 20,000 tons of cocoa beans, out of which 15,000 tons are required for internal consumption. We have nearly 5000 tons for exports and main varieties include the Forastero variety of cocoa beans.
Coffee Beans
A coffee bean is the seed of the coffee plant (the pit inside the red or purple fruit). The fruits, coffee cherries or coffee berries, most commonly contain two stones with their flat sides together. Coffee beans consist mostly of endosperm that contains 0.8 - 2.5 % caffeine, which is one of the main reasons the plants are cultivated. As coffee is one of the world's most widely consumed beverages, coffee beans are a major cash crop, and an important export product for some countries.
